VDI Integration

Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) Integration

Users of VDI have often faced numerous challenges when they try to watch video in this environment. For too long, users of thin clients have experienced buffering, stops and starts and jittering as they try to view video. With Kontiki, users of VDI can experience a high quality video viewing experience for the first time.

Kontiki’s Video Delivery for Citrix VDI

Kontiki has been verified Citrix Ready® for Citrix XenDesktop® 5.5.

Kontiki works in conjunction with XenDesktop by delivering Flash-based media streams outside of the VDI session (redirected into the Kontiki delivery protocol via Citrix’s HDX Media Stream). This enables the VDI session to focus on delivering a seamless user experience to the end user, while Kontiki’s technology focuses on providing high quality video delivery.

With the Kontiki solution, Citrix XenDesktop users are able to benefit from Kontiki’s Enterprise Content Delivery Network (ECDN), which provides high quality video delivery across your entire organization, no matter where users are or what devices they’re using. In Kontiki’s peer-assisted delivery model, every client computer acts as a server. Instead of each client needing to get data exclusively from central servers, computers using Kontiki get their video from another client computer that is physically closer than the central server. This dramatically improves the utilization of your existing network as the burden moves from the Wide Area Network (WAN), where the central servers are, to the Local Area Network (LAN), which results in less congestion in your network.
