Webcasting project beginning in Edinburgh

The news source explained that the solution will be used on a trial basis for a year. Throughout the process, meetings will not only be shown live, but also made available through an archive. The city council currently plans to make meeting webcasts available for viewing within at least two days of the gathering, ensuring that city residents can get information about the event before too much time has passed.

Donald Wilson, Lord Provost for Edinburgh, told the news source that webcasting gives the government council an opportunity to better engage constituents in government decisions that will affect their lives.

“The Council makes decisions which affect the lives of every single person in Edinburgh. We are committed to improving how we engage with Edinburgh residents and the pilot will be a great tool to help us to be more open and transparent,” Wilson told EdinburghGuide.com.

Wilson also told the news source that his personal experience working in IT helped him recognize that video has become too important to ignore when it comes to communications.

While openness and transparency are not always focal points in the enterprise, the need to get certain pieces of information to employees in a meaningful way is essential for ongoing operations.
