Engaging employees in their work is a critical part of enterprise operations. It ensures that workers not only understand their roles, but also know that their positions are important to the business. This keeps them more focused on their work because they know its purpose and understand that they are valuable. But companies can take engagement to another level by empowering their workers, and enterprise video is the tool that can get them there.
An engaged employee will work efficiently. He or she will be productive and get the job done on a consistent basis. An empowered employee will develop innovative processes that improve the quality of work produced. Employees will feel able to adapt operations to best fit their needs without going outside of the boundaries set forth by the company. While empowerment can go too far, giving workers the authority and information they need to get the most out of themselves can improve businesses considerably.
Empowered employees need to understand the ins and outs of their positions. This allows them to know the full implications of what they are supposed to be doing on a day-to-day basis and gives them the ability to adjust their routine to better fit those requirements. This information also provides the clear boundaries needed to make sure workers do not go outside their roles, creating problems. But communicating all of this knowledge is difficult. Video is vital in this process.
Most workers are not going to want to read page after page of descriptions detailing their role with the company and guidelines they have to follow. Meetings can help, but they have a limited lasting impact and take up a lot of time on the part of the supervisor. But video, whether streamed or available on demand, provides an immersive avenue to deliver key information that can get employees excited about the job and motivate them to go beyond the status quo. It not only provides the necessary information to give employees checks and balances, it also serves as the catalyst that is integral to helping workers go from engaged to empowered.
To use video effectively for employee empowerment, content needs to be delivered to users effectively and in high-quality forms. This makes the network an essential consideration when trying to help workers improve operations. As a result, IT and network upgrades may need to be part of your employee empowerment strategy.
