By Kevin Crayton – VP of Product Management
As a 5 year veteran of Kontiki, I’ve seen our solutions evolve, but I’ve also seen us remain true to our roots. From the beginning, we’ve always been focused on the enterprise, and specifically, helping to solve the video delivery problem within the enterprise.
Our Kontiki Enterprise Video Platform (EVP) was built from the ground-up to offer the security and stability businesses demand, with the user-friendly consumer-influenced features and functionality employees expect. A core component of our platform is our Kontiki Enterprise Content Delivery Network (ECDN), which is really the central force behind our ability to deliver high quality video (or other large files) to everyone in the enterprise, even in remote locations.
There are a couple of unique things about our technology that I’d like to point out. The first thing is that our solution does not require corporations to invest in any hardware or bandwidth upgrades. The Kontiki EVP is a centrally managed and controlled, secure, software delivery platform that utilizes your existing network infrastructure without negatively impacting the network. We utilize server-based content delivery and monitoring residing in the Cloud, coupled with a small software client that resides on every endpoint. All of this enables companies to benefit from the reliable delivery of video based on our unique peer-assisted delivery model.
And though the company has been around for over 10 years, serving the largest global enterprises, we also take the time to listen to our customers and their needs and modify our platform. One of the things we’ve heard is that besides high quality delivery, businesses also need flexibility. In some cases, customers have pre-existing systems and software already set up that they’re pretty happy with. SharePoint would be a common example of that. Kontiki has partnered with many best-of-breed vendors, such as Newsgator to offer seamless integration that works for both business stakeholders and end users. And it’s something we’re continuing to focus on in 2012 and beyond.
